Why Not Celebrate?

Yes, the question is, "Why not celebrate?" We all have our own answers and reasons for feeling less than happy, healthy, or productive. Sometimes celebration seems frivolous or impractical, especially when there are so many things in the world that are not worth celebrating. Here's the thing ... when we celebrate and give thanks, we bring light to (the many) situations that need it.

SENDING OUT LIGHT WAVES

For instance, when you say, "I celebrate peace," when you know there are places in the world where there is not peace. When you do that, instead of focusing on the darkness, you bring in the light into the shadows by celebrating the possibilities. And it doesn't have to happen with only big things.

IT'S THE SIMPLE THINGS!

What if we celebrated the very simple thing of waking up in the morning? Let's face it, someday we may not! So tomorrow morning, you can celebrate the beginning of a new day. Then, see how it goes from there. There are so many things when you get right down to it. I lived in the Alaskan wilderness for 12 years (yup, post-Woodstock), and when I finally moved back to civilization, I celebrated flush toilets for years! Of course, in those days, there was also hot and cold running water to be thankful for - and I still celebrate the automatic washing machine.

EASY WAYS TO SAY "THANKS"

Another case in point, I drive a very reliable Honda CRV, but I still say thank you (to her, her name is Pearl, she's white :) every time I finish my errands and pull into the carport... thank you for a safe reliable journey - yay! And why not?

REMEMBERING OUR GRATITUDE

It isn't always easy to remember the many things that we are grateful for... our days are busy and full. It's easy to just put our heads down and plow forward. But wait. When we stop and take a breath, we can get back to the glorious moment that we can celebrate, even if it's only for a moment. That's what changes the world, from inside you to the outside.

WE'RE IN CHARGE

You know I love things that we can do that help us take charge and are empowering. I like to call them 'tools for transformation.' We need to apply the tools as a practice, which means we do it more than once, and why? Practice becomes a habit that turns into a lifestyle because we're worth it! In this case, more is definitely better!

TAKE A MOMENT RIGHT NOW!

Here is a brief and beautiful exercise that is my gift to celebrate YOU! Easy, quick, and powerful.

Close your lovely eyes, take a delicious, relaxing breath, and say (out loud), "I celebrate _____." Fill in the blank with something from your heart, like: "I celebrate my breath" - an easy one. Or, "I celebrate my connection to the field of love," or "I celebrate my wisdom." Keep going. Let your face be soft, and your breath be easy. Try it with your hand on your heart.  Keep breathing and let your imagination fill in the blanks. Now think of us doing this together, hundreds, thousands of us, and feel the celebration wave roll over you and the planet!

I CELEBRATE YOU!
